This course provides an overview of nuclear pharmacy as a practice specialty: contributions of the nuclear pharmacist and application of radioactive tracer techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of disease will be reviewed.

An introduction to how inherited variations in genes dictate drug response. Topics covered include basic principles of medical genetics, chemotherapy improvement through pharmacogenomics, as well as the ethical, legal, and social impact of pharmacogenomics.

This course, taught by faculty from multiple disciplines, is designed to provide the necessary tools for health care professionals to successfully assess and care for the older adult as a team.  It involves the interprofessional study of the treatment of common geriatric conditions in multiple care settings and across the care continuum. Note: this course meets the Elective requirement for the HSC IPE Honors Certification program.

This course is designed for students to gain an understanding of the general concept of Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), including herbal medicine, Oriental medicine, nutrition, Mexican folk medicine, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. Students will use evidenced-based literature review to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CAM. Additionally, students will apply the knowledge of CAM and learn how to safely integrate it into a patient’s current therapy when and if it is warranted.
