OVERVIEW

The goal of this program is to provide web-based training in the required DOT areas to those working with or around radioactive materials who may make deliveries, prepare packages for delivery, or be responsible for the safe preparation of packages for transport.

The DOT training requirements include:

- General awareness and familiarization with radioactive materials

- General safety considerations for radioactive materials
- Security awareness training
- Function-specific training for those tasks that the employee performs (E.g. packaging, labeling)

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the appropriate modules, the participant will be able to:

1. Define hazardous materials

2. Discuss the general safety considerations associated with the transport of radioactive materials
3. Describe the security measures to be taken with radiopharmacueticals.
4. Delineate the function specific considerations for different tasks involving the preparation of packages for transport.

2024 PROGRAM

OVERVIEW

This course is supplemental to DOT training specific training areas and the function-specific training needed to prepare packages and documentation for ground transport of radioactive materials. It is the user’s responsibility to insure that all other DOT training requirements have been met as outlined in the Prerequisites listed below.

Prerequisites : Satisfactory completed appropriate DOT training in the areas of

  1. General awareness and familiarization with radioactive materials
  2. General safety considerations for radioactive materials
  3. Security awareness training
  4. DOT Training for Highway Shippers of Radioactive Materials

Goal: The goal of this program is to provide required training specific to the packaging, labeling and proper documentation of packages containing radioactive materials with the proper shipping name of Radioactive Material, Type A Package to be offered for transport by domestic air carriers.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the appropriate modules, the participant will be able to:

  1. Discuss the regulatory agencies responsible for US air transport of radioactive materials.
  2. Discuss the input of advisory groups who influence the regulations of air transport of dangerous goods.
  3. Explain the requirements for appropriate packaging and labeling of packages offered for domestic air transport.
  4. Complete a Dangerous Goods Airbill for Radioactive Material, Type A Package.
