This course is designed for students to gain an understanding of the general concept of Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), including herbal medicine, Oriental medicine, nutrition, Mexican folk medicine, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. Students will use evidenced-based literature review to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CAM. Additionally, students will apply the knowledge of CAM and learn how to safely integrate it into a patient’s current therapy when and if it is warranted.
